Introduction

What started as a novice way to share photographs with friends and family (some six years ago), has now developed into a passionate hobby. To name places that we have visited when questioned, does not always conjure up the same image that we both share with those whom are listening. When it comes to travel, visual is paramount, as are accounts of personal experiences and for us, there are many!!

This site covers all the nooks and crannies that we have uncovered whilst out on the road. There are some places that for us hold magical memories and have us wishing to return. Then there are those places, that were interesting to explore but one visit was enough.

The world we live in may seem very small these days, with accessibility now at our finger’s tips thanks to the advancement of air travel. Yet, the world is still a mysterious place and is a very large place. Only a small minority would ever fully travel the world extensively and they would notably be with lots of time and lots of cash on hand. For us, we travel when we can, save hard and stay motivated with the thought of what lies ahead …. Curious?

Then just take a look for yourself, it’s a beautiful and mysterious world that we live in!

Happy New Year!!

It has been a while since we last logged onto this site and said a word or two, but can say that time truly does fly by when you're having fun.

Strangely we have noted that while footing it around the world, there magically appeared to be more hours in the day which allowed us to regularly write updates and upload photographs whilst continually traveling on trains, bicycles, cars, boats and the like.  Now in our old familiar nest, the hours seem to disappear with a reappearing list reminding us of all that needs to be done. Not sure what this is all about but am guessing that is has something to do with the transition from "go with the flow backpackers" to "Mama and Papa" in the time that we have been home.  Another observation is that the camera when out (and that's often) the lens is more times than not focused on the wee man than ourselves, which means that we have an album (or two) brimming with fun times in the life of Master Cameron and somehow Matt or myself when we do appear are rarely seen together in the same shot.  I'm now beginning to understand the purpose of a tripod and auto set timer!

Last year we managed to fit in lots of fun activity into our lives and attended many memorable events, while enjoying many short escapades within New Zealand. Only trip across the water saw us in Melbourne catching up with friends and family for no better reason than to catch up with some nice folks, second trip was to Brisbane to witness friends exchange vows in the beautiful setting of Maleny.  This year we would like to envisage that many more trips are on the cards but again that depends on a few things and one of those unfortunately happen to be 'spare cash' in the purse. Doh! Our feet are feeling very light and itchy so no doubt we will have more stories to write in and out of Aoteoroa during some part of this exciting year ahead of us.

In summary, second half of 2008 we spent lots of time indoors visiting friends and family throughout the winter season and enjoyed many a night sitting in front of the fire.  Winter also lent us a reason to get out and about to explore some of the new cafes and restaurants that have popped up in various places around Christchurch. By the time Spring rolled around, we were more than ready to get our walking boots on and take in the gorgeous colours in full view everywhere around us.  Then at long last came Summer!

Coincidentally or not, around Cameron's first birthday we bought ourselves a caravan so we spent most weekends in November '08 and December '08 away exploring many of the tranquil camping spots dotted around the Canterbury region.
